Rajat Bawaja, Vikramaditya Motwane, young Aayan Barodia, Dipa Motwane, the executive producer, and other members of the cast and crew stayed at The Boulevard. Our hotel and staff had the rare experience of hosting the team for six weeks. Dipa Motwane, granddaughter of P.N. Bose, the geologist responsible for convincing the Tata’s to come to Singhbhum. has been visiting Jamshedpur from Kulti every summer.
We met for the first time more than forty years ago. We again met by accident in Café Coffee Day when she was scouting for a site for her son’s movie. We were able to work out a deal and again our hotel has to its credit hosting the actors and crew of the first, full-length Hindi movie filmed almost completely in Jamshedpur. Vikramaditya will remember the place as his home for forty days which resulted in his début production.
Our staff remembers Dipa De Motwane as being extremely detailed in her instructions, always kind but firm in what she wanted. She has the talent to identify capable persons who she absorbs into her team. We appreciated her project management skills in coordinating a movie production. Although she was demanding, our staff felt privileged working with her. Rajat Baweja was instructed not to be influenced by entertainment and friends and his room 312 was cleared of the T.V. and newspapers. Young Aayan and his mother charmed all and endeared themselves to one and all.
Meals were at erratic times. However, there was hardly an evening when Dipa did not ask for her favourite lemon tart from our bakery, Brubeck. Dipa returned to Boulevard on the 24th of July after the special showing at Beldih Club.
Thank you for being part of our history, Dipa.
